LAWAS, Jan 28: Seven Indonesian crew members of a cargo boat that capsized near Kampung Awat-Awat this morning have been successfully rescued.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the incident happened around 9am while the vessel, loaded with rocks, was on its way from Sipitang to Brunei.

The boat’s sudden capsizing led to an emergency response, with initial reports indicating that six crew members were rescued. A seventh crew member was missing, triggering an urgent search and rescue operation.
