PETALING JAYA: Sudden Rain Causes Chaos
The tranquility of Kajang, a bustling town in the Klang Valley, was shattered today as heavy rain led to flash floods, bringing traffic to a standstill and leaving residents stranded.
Videos and images circulating on social media depict a grim scene: streets submerged in knee-high waters, vehicles struggling to navigate through the deluge, and residents wading through the floods in search of safety.
Roads Closed, Traffic Diversions Implemented
The onslaught of flash floods prompted authorities to shut down several main roads in Kajang, exacerbating the traffic woes. Concerned netizens took to social media platforms to warn others about the closures and suggest alternative routes, urging caution in navigating the treacherous conditions.
In addition to Kajang, reports of flooding poured in from various parts of the Klang Valley, including Damansara Damai, Kepong, Petaling Jaya, Seri Kembangan, and Putrajaya, compounding the region’s traffic woes.
The Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) issued a 5.40pm report highlighting heavy rainfall in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya, with forecasts predicting the downpour to persist until 9pm.
Astro Radio Traffic further added to the grim scenario, reporting congestion on major highways such as the Damansara-Puchong Expressway, Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), KESAS, and SPRINT, attributing the gridlock to the inclement weather.
