KUCHING (Aug 12) – The 10th edition of Kuching’s Got Talent proved to be an extraordinary celebration of local talent, drawing over 300 participants and showcasing a remarkable range of performances. Among the standout moments was the participation of the oldest contestant, aged 83, adding a touch of inspirational charm to the event.
A Grand Showcase of Local Talent
The annual Kuching’s Got Talent competition, held in conjunction with the vibrant Kuching Festival Fair, continues to be a cornerstone of local entertainment. This year’s event featured a diverse array of categories, including singing, dance, and other unique talents, with a total prize pool of RM22,600. The competition was held on the picturesque floating stage of the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), adding a scenic backdrop to the dynamic performances.
Celebrating Diverse Talent Categories
The competition was divided into three main categories: singing, dance, and other talents, each with its own set of winners.
Singing Categories
In the singing category for participants aged 12 and below, Natalie Chai Jia Wei emerged as the champion. Her performance captivated the audience and judges alike, securing her the top spot. Kaylyn Wong Yan Lin and Ava Chang You Rui followed closely in second and third place, respectively.
For the 13 and above age group in the singing category, Mohd Narawi Nadhar Idrus stole the show with his impressive vocals, earning first place. Felice Chang Ker and Agnes Ling Sing Yue secured second and third places, showcasing their own remarkable talents.
Dance Performances
The dance category highlighted the vibrant energy of local performers. The SJK Chung Hua Primary 4 dance club took home the first prize, their energetic and synchronized performance earning high praise. KinAte’s Sprouts and Tatakai followed in second and third places, respectively, adding to the high-caliber competition in this category.
Other Talents
The ‘Other Talents’ category brought forward an eclectic mix of performances. Constant Noah Chong, Bung Rentak, and Sync Wave were awarded the top three spots, demonstrating the wide range of skills and creativity present in Kuching’s talent pool.

Deputy Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan praised the event, highlighting its role in showcasing and nurturing local talent. Representing Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Snowdan emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating local achievements.
“Yes, education is vital but equally important is the recognition and celebration of their achievements, their dreams, and their unique talents. Kuching’s Got Talent stands as a prime example of this principle,” Snowdan remarked during the event’s finale.
