KUCHING, Sept 27 – A wood factory located at Mile 48, Jalan Kuching-Serian suffered extensive damage following a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon. The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 4.53 pm, sparking a rapid response from the Serian station.
Firefighters arrived promptly and were able to contain the blaze by 5.36 pm. However, about 40 per cent of the factory had already been destroyed by the time the fire was brought under control, according to Bomba’s official statement.
The fire was fully extinguished by 7.51 pm, with the firefighting operation concluding shortly thereafter. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damages.
