KUCHING: Sarawak is gearing up to end the year on a high note with the 5th Sarawak International Festival of Music and Arts (SIFMA 2024), scheduled to take place on December 7 and 8, 2024, at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) in Petra Jaya.
The much-anticipated event promises to dazzle audiences with world-class performances, workshops, and cultural exchanges. It is part of the Sarawak government’s ongoing efforts to uplift the state’s performing and creative arts scene.
Sarawak’s Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, emphasized the importance of the event during a press conference at the Sarawak E-Sport Expo 2024 (Sarex2024).
“Every weekend, Sarawak has something happening, which makes it such an interesting place. SIFMA is a testament to our commitment to nurturing talent in the performing arts as we prepare for the opening of the Sarawak Arts and Performing Arts Centre,” he said.
The festival will feature a wide array of traditional and contemporary music, dance, theater, and visual arts, showcasing talents from both local and international artists. The event will also include interactive workshops, masterclasses, and community outreach programs, creating a platform for artistic growth and cultural exchange.

Deputy Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan was also present at the press conference, reaffirming the ministry’s dedication to promoting cultural appreciation and artistic excellence.
