KUCHING, March 14 – Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, officially launched the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Integrity Day 2025 at a prestigious hotel here tonight.

The event, themed “Towards Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI),” served as a platform to reinforce SEDC’s commitment to integrity-based governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR). It also coincided with an Iftar Ceremony attended by the Sarawak Premier and distinguished guests.

Integrity and Transparency in the AI Era

In his speech, Abang Johari stressed the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in today’s AI-driven digital transformation. He emphasized that these values align with the Sarawak government’s vision of a transparent and responsible work culture.

“The advancement of AI should not compromise ethical values. Instead, it must be guided by strong principles to ensure a just and responsible digital ecosystem,” he said.

Commitment to CSR and Business Zakat Contribution

Demonstrating its dedication to CSR, SEDC Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Datu Husain, presented a Business Zakat contribution of RM150,000 to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS). The cheque was received by TBS General Manager, Datu Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.

SEDC continues to lead economic and social initiatives that contribute to Sarawak’s progress as a developed and inclusive state.

Ramadan Observance with Sungkei and Tarawih Prayers

To mark the holy month of Ramadan, SEDC also hosted a Sungkei Ceremony followed by Isyak, Tarawih, and Moreh prayers.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity & Ombudsman), Dato’ Murshid Diraja Dr. Juanda Jaya, and SEDC General Manager, Datu Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir.

This Integrity Day reaffirms Sarawak’s commitment to ethical governance, ensuring that technological advancements remain transparent, responsible, and beneficial to all.
