KUCHING : Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, performed the Aidilfitri Sunnah prayers at the Sarawak State Mosque today, marking the joyous start of Hari Raya celebrations.

The prayers were led by the Grand Imam of Sarawak, Sahibul Fadhilah Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi, with more than 5,000 Muslim worshippers joining in to seek blessings on this auspicious day.

Following the prayers, a special sermon titled ‘The Truth of Aidilfitri Victory’ was delivered, emphasizing the spiritual significance of Syawal and the importance of gratitude, patience, and togetherness in celebrating the festive season.

Abang Johari’s Grand Aidilfitri Open House at BCCK

After the mosque prayers, Abang Johari welcomed thousands of guests at the 2025 Aidilfitri Open House Ceremony held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). The event saw a massive turnout of visitors from all walks of life, including dignitaries, community leaders, and members of the public.

Also present at the event were the Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

Guests were treated to a variety of traditional Sarawakian delicacies, symbolizing unity and the sharing spirit of Aidilfitri. The Open House provided a golden opportunity for the people to meet and greet Sarawak’s leaders in a warm and festive setting.
