Grammy-award winning gospel singer Mandisa, known for her powerful voice and inspirational music, has passed away at the age of 47. According to an autopsy report, Mandisa died from complications related to class III obesity.

Cause of Death: Complications from Class III Obesity

Mandisa, whose full name is Mandisa Lynn Hundley, was found dead in her home in Franklin, near Nashville, Tennessee, on April 18. The Nashville medical examiner’s office confirmed that her cause of death was listed as natural, attributing it to complications from class III obesity.

Class III obesity, as defined by The Cleveland Clinic, occurs when an individual has a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher, or a BMI of 35 or higher along with obesity-related health conditions. This level of obesity significantly increases the risk of developing serious health issues such as Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

A Journey from Church Choirs to ‘American Idol’ Fame

Mandisa’s musical journey began in her childhood in California, where she grew up singing in church. She pursued her passion for music by studying vocal performance at American River College in California and later at Fisk University in Nashville.
