Trial Date Set for October

Sessions Court Judge Musli Ab Hamid has fixed the trial date for October 10-11 and set June 19 for case management. During this time, the prosecution is expected to submit relevant documents under Section 51A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC). This decision followed Musli’s refusal to accept Jefrie Drahman’s guilty plea, after Jefrie rejected the brief facts of the case presented by deputy public prosecutor Norshafatihah Nor Azmi.

The judge also ordered Jefrie to be further remanded at Puncak Borneo Prison pending the disposal of the case.

Details of the Charges

First Charge: Animal Cruelty

Jefrie is accused of beheading a cat with a butcher’s knife, a charge under Section 30(2) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015. If found guilty, he could face a fine of not less than RM100,000, a jail term of up to three years, or both.

Second Charge: Criminal Intimidation

The second charge involves criminal intimidation, where Jefrie allegedly threatened to kill his 70-year-old mother. This charge falls under Section 506 of the Penal Code and carries a potential jail term of up to seven years or a fine.

Both offences were reportedly committed at a house in Kampung Keranji, Bau at 12.40pm on May 15.

Drug Influence

It is understood that Jefrie was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, as a subsequent urine test returned positive for drugs. The case is being investigated by Sgt Mohammad Asfia Ilias. Notably, Jefrie does not have legal representation at this time.
