KUCHING – The ‘Borneo Green Bike Tour’ is paving the way for Sarawak’s tourism sector to embrace green energy while promoting sustainability and environmental care. The initiative, led by Syarikat Smart Leisure & Travel Sdn Bhd, focuses on using electric motorcycles to offer tourists an eco-friendly experience while reducing carbon footprints.

Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Minister, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, highlighted that this program encourages the use of electric motorcycles in both tourism and daily life to protect the environment and preserve Sarawak’s rich heritage.

Abdul Karim added that while Sarawak’s transition to green energy is still in its early stages, programs like this serve as the foundation for a greener future. He stressed the importance of reducing dependence on fossil fuels by gradually adopting renewable energy sources such as electricity and hydrogen.

“The shift to green energy must begin somewhere, and this program is a great starting point. I hope it will inspire more people to explore Kuching’s iconic places in an eco-friendly way,” he said.
