PENAMPANG (Dec 4): A dramatic shootout at Beverly Hill, Bundusan, Penampang last night ended with police killing three male suspects believed to be involved in serious crimes, including murder cases in Sarawak.
The incident, which occurred at 9:13 pm, unfolded as a team from the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) conducted a raid on an apartment on the first floor. Acting on intelligence, the D9 Special Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) launched the operation to apprehend the suspects.
Sabah CID chief Datuk Azmi Abdul Rahim revealed that the suspects opened fire at the police team during the raid. “When the raid was carried out, there was a shootout between the three suspects and the police. However, our members managed to shoot dead the three criminals,” he said at the scene.
Police believe the men were involved in several criminal activities, including high-profile murder cases in Sarawak.
Datuk Azmi emphasized that investigations are ongoing. “A detailed investigation is being carried out by our team at the scene to gather evidence and uncover the suspects’ criminal network,” he added.
The Sabah IPK Forensic Unit also arrived to conduct a thorough examination of the crime scene.
