KOTA SAMARAHAN, Dec 29: A routine police patrol in Taman Merlin, Kota Samarahan, led to the arrest of two men found hiding syabu weighing 1.11 grammes in the back pocket of a car seat on Friday.

Kota Samarahan District Police chief DSP Jaimi Husin confirmed that the suspects were detained by the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters MPV unit during a late-night patrol.

“The officers noticed a black Naza Citra parked on the roadside with two men seated in the driver and passenger seats. Their suspicious behavior caught the attention of the patrolling officers,” said DSP Jaimi in a statement released yesterday.

The MPV officers promptly approached the vehicle, identified themselves as police officers, and presented their identification cards. Initial checks on the two men revealed no illegal items.

However, upon inspecting the vehicle, the officers discovered a white container labeled “Mr DIY USB headlight” in the back pocket of the driver’s seat. Inside the container was a transparent plastic packet containing crystal-like substances, later confirmed as syabu.

Both suspects were arrested on the spot and brought to the Kota Samarahan Police Station for further investigation.

DSP Jaimi lauded the vigilance of his officers, emphasizing the importance of regular patrols in preventing illegal activities. The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries severe penalties upon conviction.

This incident highlights the Kota Samarahan police force’s ongoing commitment to curbing drug-related activities in the region and ensuring the safety of the community.
