SIBU, 25 March – An elderly couple had a lucky escape after their car skidded into a ditch near Farley Supermarket, Jalan Salim, this evening.
Head of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Zone 4 Sibu, Andy Alie, stated that his team received an emergency call at 4.51 PM, prompting a swift response from the Sibu Sentral Fire and Rescue Station (BBP).

No One Trapped in the Accident
Upon arrival, firefighters found a Perodua Bezza in a ditch at the roadside. Fortunately, both passengers were safe and did not suffer serious injuries.

“There were no victims trapped inside the vehicle. The fire department assisted in getting the passengers out before handing them over to the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) for medical evaluation,” said Andy in a statement today.
Couple Taken to Sibu Hospital for Check-Up
Following the rescue, the APM team transported the elderly couple to Sibu Hospital for a thorough examination. The cause of the accident remains unknown, but wet road conditions or loss of control may have contributed to the vehicle skidding.
This incident serves as a reminder for motorists to drive carefully, especially in unpredictable weather and busy traffic areas. Authorities have yet to issue further statements regarding the case.
