KINABATANGAN, April 2 – A 65-year-old woman was tragically killed by her estranged husband at Kampung Perpaduan Datu Ugi in Kinabatangan. The gruesome discovery was made by one of the couple’s children on the morning of April 1.

Kinabatangan police chief Superintendent D. Ravi confirmed that the victim’s body was found in a pool of blood with stab wounds on her neck at 8.55 am.

Family Dispute Turned Deadly
According to initial investigations, the motive behind the murder was a family dispute. The victim was in the living room when her 75-year-old estranged husband attacked her with a knife.

“One of the children found the victim’s body and immediately informed the police,” said Superintendent Ravi.

Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report and arrested the suspect. A 35-centimeter-long knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the scene.

Suspect in Police Custody
The victim’s body was taken to Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan for a postmortem examination. Meanwhile, the suspect has been remanded for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction.

Authorities continue their investigation into the case while urging the public to report any signs of domestic violence to prevent further tragedies.

This shocking incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of unresolved family conflicts and the need for timely intervention to prevent such violent outcomes.
