KUCHING, March 27 – Two local men have been arrested for setting an excavator on fire at a construction site along Jalan Tun Dato Abang Haji Mohd Salahuddin, Petra Jaya. The act was allegedly driven by dissatisfaction over unpaid wages.
Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah stated that the suspects, aged 34 and 46, used glass bottles filled with petrol to ignite the heavy machinery. The incident, which took place on March 26, was swiftly reported to the authorities.

Swift Police Action Leads to Arrest
Following the report, a team from the D7 branch of the Kuching District Police Headquarters launched an investigation and managed to track down and arrest the two suspects. Further examination revealed that both individuals tested positive for drugs during an initial urine screening.

Despite the violent nature of the incident, Mohd Farhan clarified that it was not linked to gangsterism.
Legal Consequences and Police Appeal
The case is currently being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both for anyone found guilty of causing mischief by fire or explosive substances.
