PETRA JAYA | 16 March 2025 | Sunday – Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof spent an engaging day with the Petra Jaya community, participating in a series of meaningful activities, including distributing Ashura porridge, a motorcycle convoy, and addressing local infrastructure concerns.
Community Engagement and Ashura Porridge Distribution
The day began with a motorcycle convoy from Petra Jaya Community College to Semariang Batu Village Hall, where the Petra Jaya Youth Ashura Porridge Distribution Motorcycle Convoy Program took place. A total of 800 packs of Ashura porridge were distributed to residents across three Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) constituencies. This community-driven event was organized by the P.194 Petra Jaya Parliamentary Service Center, reinforcing the importance of togetherness during significant occasions.

Adding to the charitable efforts, PETRONAS contributed 50 food baskets for the Asnaf group, ensuring those in need received essential food supplies.

Prayer and Addressing Drainage Issues
Following the event, Fadillah Yusof and his team proceeded to Nurul Khair Mosque, where they joined local residents for the Zuhr prayer. After prayers, he took time to inspect the drainage system in front of the mosque, responding directly to complaints from residents about flooding and poor water flow in the area. His hands-on approach to solving local infrastructure issues highlights his commitment to addressing community concerns.
About Fadillah Yusof
Fadillah Yusof is a Malaysian politician from Sarawak and the first person from East Malaysia to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister, a role he assumed in December 2022. Born in Sibu in 1962, he pursued law at the University of Malaya before venturing into politics in 1989 under Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB). He has been the Member of Parliament for Petra Jaya since 2004 and has held several ministerial positions, including Minister of Works and Senior Minister in charge of Infrastructure. Currently, he serves as the Minister of Plantation and Commodities under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s government.
Beyond politics, Fadillah Yusof is a family man with five children and remains active on social media, regularly engaging with Malaysians. His presence at the Petra Jaya event underscores his strong connection with the people and dedication to grassroots-level engagement.
