KRIAN: A peaceful evening turned into a nightmare for a family of five when their home at House Number 121, Jalan Ulu Krian was completely destroyed in a fire earlier today.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call at exactly 5.17 pm regarding the incident. Without wasting any time, six firefighters from BBP Saratok, led by Senior Officer Fire Department 2, Abdul Rahman Sabi, were deployed to the location.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the non-permanent structure house already fully engulfed in flames. The fire spread so quickly that the house was 100 percent destroyed before any belongings could be saved.

Thankfully, all five family members managed to escape safely, and no injuries or deaths were reported. However, the emotional and financial loss suffered by the family is heartbreaking.
The firefighters worked tirelessly, using a first aid hose and a 100-foot water stream from the nearest fire hydrant to put out the flames. After several rounds of firefighting operations, the fire was finally brought under control and fully extinguished.
As of now, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by JBPM authorities. The total amount of losses suffered by the victims has yet to be determined.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder to all residents to always ensure electrical wiring is safe, and flammable items are stored properly to prevent unexpected fires.
For now, the affected family will need strong support from the community and local authorities to rebuild their lives after losing their home.
