Kuching, Sarawak – 13 September 2024: The highly anticipated MBKS Mid-Autumn Festival event is set to take place on 17th September (next Tuesday) at Friendship Park, Jalan Song. Organized by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS), this year’s celebration promises to be a vibrant and memorable evening filled with traditional festivities, delightful treats, and cultural performances that highlight Sarawak’s rich heritage.

A Night of Tradition and Celebration

The event was officially announced during a press conference attended by Kapitan Tan Kun Gee, Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, and Councillor Mok Chuang Ping. The MBKS Mid-Autumn Festival aims to bring the community together in the spirit of unity and festivity. Starting at 6:30 pm, residents and visitors are encouraged to join in the celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most significant cultural events in the Chinese calendar.

Free Mooncakes and Lanterns for All

In keeping with the Mid-Autumn Festival tradition, free mooncakes and lanterns will be distributed to the public, with special treats for children. The iconic mooncakes, symbolizing reunion and togetherness, are sure to add a touch of nostalgia and joy to the festivities. A total of 800 lanterns have been generously sponsored by Lion City Singapore Hainan Chicken Rice Sdn Bhd, with partners Calvin Keong, Phang Ching Shiung, Lee Gin How, and Benny Ho playing a key role in this charitable contribution.

High Pole Lion Dance Performance by CMAA

One of the major highlights of the evening will be a breathtaking High Pole Lion Dance performance by the Chinese Martial Art Association (CMAA). Sponsored by Kapitan Tan Kun Gee, this acrobatic display is set to captivate the audience with its high-energy maneuvers and vibrant costumes.
