MIRI: A devastating fire engulfed a two-storey semi-permanent house in Kampung Lopeng Tengah early this morning, destroying the home along with a Perodua Axia car and a motorcycle. The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 am.
Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call at 6:25 am and immediately dispatched their team to the location, which was about 13 kilometres away.

“Upon arrival, we found that the fire had already consumed most of the two-storey semi-permanent house, as well as a Perodua Axia and a motorcycle,” a fire department spokesperson reported.

Firefighters swiftly carried out an extinguishing operation using two water streams, assisted by two additional 100-foot delivery hoses, pumps, and a nearby fire hydrant. Thanks to their prompt response, they successfully brought the fire under control and extinguished it completely.
A total of eight police officers were also present at the scene to assist in managing the situation.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported. However, it was confirmed that the house owner and occupant sustained burn injuries to their right shoulder. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, and the total losses incurred remain under investigation.
The fire department continued to monitor the safety of the area before concluding their operation at 8:30 am.
Residents in Kampung Lopeng Tengah are urged to stay vigilant and ensure their homes are equipped with proper fire prevention measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
