SIBU: A raging fire broke out at a vehicle repair workshop in Lorong Upper Lanang 32, Sibu, in the early hours of the morning, destroying five vehicles.
The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sibu Zone Chief, Andy Alie, stated that the Sibu Sentral Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Fire Control Room received an emergency call at 4.11 am from concerned members of the public.

A team of 10 firefighters, along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Services Unit (EMRS) vehicle, was immediately dispatched to the scene.

Vehicles Engulfed in Flames
According to Andy, the fire consumed five vehicles, including two four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles, a sports utility vehicle (SUV), and two cars. The vehicles were estimated to be 90% destroyed by the flames.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control, and extinguishing efforts were completed by 5.01 am.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
At the time of writing, authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire. Investigations are ongoing to establish the source and any possible contributing factors to the blaze.
Local residents and business owners in the area are urged to remain vigilant and take precautionary fire safety measures, especially in workshops where flammable materials are commonly stored.
The quick response of the fire department prevented the flames from spreading further, averting potential losses to nearby structures. JBPM reminds the public to report any signs of fire immediately to prevent serious incidents.
