Foreign Motorcyclist Dies After Accident on Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha, Kuching
KUCHING, SARAWAK – A 43-year-old foreign man tragically lost his life after his motorcycle collided with a Perodua Myvi in an accident on Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha last night. Despite being rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital, he was confirmed dead in the emergency ward at 11.35 p.m.
Details of the Accident
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah shared that the accident occurred at approximately 9.30 p.m. According to initial investigations, the motorcyclist was traveling straight when the Perodua Myvi, which was turning right at an intersection, struck the motorcycle.
“The collision occurred when the Myvi attempted to turn into the intersection and collided with the victim’s motorcycle, which was coming from the opposite direction,” ACP Farhan explained in a statement.
The impact left the motorcyclist with severe head injuries, ultimately leading to his death in the hospital.

Ongoing Investigation
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. This law covers reckless or dangerous driving resulting in death, which carries penalties of up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to RM50,000 upon conviction.
