Gawai Dayak Bazaar 2024: A Catalyst for Economic and Cultural Development
KUCHING: The Gawai Dayak Bazaar 2024 is set to play a significant role in boosting the local economy and fostering cultural unity, aligning with the theme of this year’s Sarawak Budget, “Development for All: Building a Prosperous, Sustainable and United Sarawak Together.”
Government Commitment to Economic Stimulation
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas emphasized that the bazaar is a crucial initiative aimed at expanding and stimulating local economic activities. Speaking through a speech read by the Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, during the bazaar’s opening ceremony at MJC Batu Kawa on Friday night, Uggah highlighted the government’s dedication to meeting the people’s needs.
“The Sarawak government is always sensitive to the wishes of the people, and this year’s budget theme is not just a guide but a testament to our commitment to building a prosperous, sustainable, and united Sarawak,” he stated.
Empowering Local Traders and Entrepreneurs
Uggah called on traders to leverage the opportunities presented by the bazaar to conduct business and promote their products and services. He encouraged entrepreneurs to use the event as a platform for networking and idea exchange to expand their business prospects.
“The Gawai Dayak Bazaar is a festival activity aimed at developing and stimulating local economic activities. I urge traders to take advantage of this opportunity to conduct business and promote their products and services,” he explained.
Promoting Culture and Local Talent
In addition to its economic benefits, the Gawai Dayak Bazaar also places a strong emphasis on cultural promotion. Uggah noted that the event offers a platform for local artists to showcase their talents and discover new opportunities.
“This bazaar also provides an opportunity for local artists to showcase their talents, uncover new talents, and give recognition to deserving artists,” he added.
