SRI AMAN – A 28-year-old man had to be rescued by firefighters after he sprained his ankle while hiking with three friends at Wong Radau Waterfall, Batu Lintang, this morning.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO) received an emergency call at approximately 9.26 am. Acting swiftly, four firefighters from Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), led by Senior Fire Officer 2, Elijah Tiyit, were deployed to the location to assist the injured hiker.

Rescue Mission in the Jungle

The rescue team had to trek 1.5 kilometres from the nearest longhouse to reach the injured man. Upon arrival, they assessed his condition and carefully transported him using a stretcher down to a nearby longhouse.

According to PGO, the victim sustained an injury to his left knee, while his three friends were unhurt. After safely bringing him down from the waterfall, the firefighters handed him over to the Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel, who transported him to Sri Aman Hospital for further medical treatment.
