Real Madrid’s Potential New Star

Real Madrid have just secured their sixth European Cup in 10 years, but midfielder Jude Bellingham believes the team can reach even greater heights if the rumours about Kylian Mbappe’s arrival are true. Mbappe, who scored an impressive 44 goals in 48 games for PSG in his final season, announced back in May that he would be moving on this summer. All indications point towards the Frenchman heading to Madrid.

Bellingham’s Thoughts on Mbappe’s Impact

Jude Bellingham, fresh from his first European Cup victory with Real Madrid at Wembley, was quick to consider the potential impact of Kylian Mbappe’s arrival. Speaking on TNT Sports’ coverage of the UEFA Champions League final, Bellingham addressed the ongoing rumours about the France No. 9 joining Madrid.

While careful not to confirm anything, Bellingham expressed excitement about the possibility of playing alongside the Paris Saint-Germain striker. “If that was to happen, it would be amazing,” he said.

The Need for Mbappe’s Qualities

Bellingham highlighted Mbappe’s specific qualities, noting that Madrid had missed those skills during their 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund to secure their 15th European Cup. “A player like him…you see tonight I think it’s the only little thing that maybe we’re missing in terms of that clinical nine,” he explained. “If he was to come and give us that, we’d be in a really, really great place.”

Currently, the only true center forward in Madrid’s squad is former Stoke City striker Joselu, who is on loan from Espanyol. While Joselu has his own strengths, Bellingham believes Mbappe’s arrival would provide a significant boost. “He’d take us to another level,” Bellingham stated.

Real Madrid’s Dominance and Potential Growth

Real Madrid’s recent victory over Borussia Dortmund adds to their impressive record, with six Champions League titles in the last decade. The idea that this group of players could still improve is daunting for their rivals. Bellingham emphasized Mbappe’s prowess, calling him “one of the best players in the world, clearly.”

Mbappe’s career stats are impressive: 44 goals in 48 games this season, 256 goals, 96 assists, and 15 trophies with PSG, and a Ligue 1 title with AS Monaco. On the international stage, Mbappe has won the 2018 World Cup, the 2021 Nations League, and reached the World Cup final again in 2022. With 46 international goals and 27 assists, he has already equaled Pele’s 12 World Cup goals and is only four goals behind Miroslav Klose’s all-time record.

Filling the Benzema Void

Should Mbappe arrive in Madrid this summer, he would fill the gap left by the departure of Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema in 2023. The award for the world’s greatest player has eluded Mbappe so far, but Real Madrid has a storied history of helping their stars achieve this ultimate individual accolade.
