3 Houses Burnt in Kampung Tabuan Melayu, MBKS Mayor Visits Fire Victims

KUCHING, 5 MARCH – A tragic fire incident shocked Kampung Tabuan Melayu today when three permanent houses were destroyed in a sudden blaze at Lorong 2, Kampung Tabuan Lot. The incident happened in the early hours, causing panic among residents.

One victim was rushed to the hospital after suffering from suffocation caused by thick smoke. Thankfully, fast action by the Fire Department saved the situation from becoming even worse. The victim is now receiving treatment, while other affected families have been moved to Pusat Pemindahan Sementara (PPS) at Dewan Haji Wan Junaidi for temporary shelter.

MBKS Mayor Dato’ Wee Hong Seng Visits the Fire Scene

As soon as the fire report was received, MBKS Mayor Dato’ Wee Hong Seng wasted no time. Together with Cr Eric Tay Tze Kok and other council members, they immediately went to Kampung Tabuan Melayu to check on the situation personally.

Mayor Wee assured that the council is ready to assist the victims and will work closely with relevant agencies to provide immediate help. “We want to make sure no one is left behind, and all the basic needs are provided,” said Mayor Wee during the visit.

APM Kuching Provides Emergency Aid

The fire response team MyASPA-O (02) APM Kuching was also on-site to assist the Fire Department. APM Kuching deployed 4 members to distribute food aid Starter Kits and basic food supplies from Food Bank Malaysia, sponsored by Tabung Haji. This quick response ensured that victims received necessary food and supplies right after the tragedy.

Salute to Firefighters and All Rescue Teams
