“The gathering last December to commemorate the 1924 peace treaty is a strong reminder of the noble values of unity. Peace and harmony are vital for societal growth. Without it, we face endless conflict like what we see in Gaza or Ukraine today,” Nanta emphasized.

He urged everyone to remember the significance of living peacefully despite differences, saying, “Let’s cherish peace and harmony, and continue fostering unity in our communities.”
The evening also marked the symbolic handing-over of responsibilities from outgoing Kapit Resident, Galong Luang, to his successor, Elvis Didit. Galong has now assumed the role of Miri Resident.
The ceremony was graced by numerous notable guests, including Deputy Minister in Sarawak Premier’s Department (Native Customs and Laws) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, and other district officers, council members, and community leaders.
This special dinner not only celebrated the success of the peace anniversary event but also reflected on the collective effort to uphold the enduring legacy of the Kapit Peacemaking Agreement.
As Nanta concluded his speech, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a role in organizing the event, reinforcing the importance of unity and cooperation for future generations.
