99 Contingents to Participate in Gawai Parade in Kuching this Saturday
Diverse Ethnic Groups and Traditional Attire on Display
KUCHING (June 12) – The streets of Kuching will come alive with vibrant colors and cultural splendor as 99 contingents, including 13 floats or decorated vehicles, participate in the Gawai Cultural Parade this Saturday, June 15.
The Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) president, Datu Ik Pahon Joyik, announced that the parade will showcase the rich diversity of various ethnic groups and their traditional attire in Sarawak. In an exciting addition, a delegation from the Kadazan Dusun ethnic group in Sabah has been invited to enhance the festivities.

A Grand Cultural Display
“The parade, set to take place from 2 pm to 5 pm, will start from the Tun Jugah Waterfront building,” Joyik stated to the media after a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today.
Prominent Leaders in Attendance
Joyik was part of a delegation led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn. The delegation also included Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada, Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, and Education, Innovation and Talent Development Ministry deputy permanent secretary Anielia Siam.
This grand event is expected to draw large crowds and provide a beautiful glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Sarawak and Sabah, fostering unity and appreciation among the diverse communities.
