KUCHING, January 26, 2025 – The Kuching Dragon and Lion Dance Team from Dragon and Lion Mountain Villa marked an auspicious moment today with a sacred “eye-opening” ceremony for their new lion. The ritual, held on the 27th day of the twelfth lunar month, symbolizes bringing life, spirituality, and good fortune to the lion and prosperity to the community.

The ceremony, steeped in cultural heritage, was a captivating display of tradition. From the rhythmic drumbeats to the intricate symbolic gestures painted on the lion’s body, every step carried deep significance.

Adding prestige to the occasion, Sarawak’s Deputy Premier, Dato’ Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian, and Batu Kitang assemblyman, YB Lo Khere Chiang, attended the event, underlining the importance of preserving Sarawak’s vibrant cultural heritage.
