Emart Batu Kawa Kuching (JUN 9): Kuching Love Book Association extends its heartfelt gratitude to Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Prof. Dr Sim Kui Hian, and the generous blood donors who participated in their recent blood donation campaign held at Emart Batu Kawa. The event, aimed at supporting World Blood Donor Day on June 14th, witnessed a remarkable turnout and success.

A Heartwarming Response

The campaign saw 97 successful blood donors, marking a significant achievement in the collective effort towards blood donation. The first 80 donors were rewarded with a special gratitude goodies bag, including essential items like an eco bag, t-shirt, stress ball, and five kilograms of white rice, alongside beverages and biscuits, accompanied by a certificate of appreciation.

While all donors were appreciated, the remaining 17 contributors received a token of gratitude in the form of a 5kg bag of white rice. Additionally, the association expressed encouragement to the 10 deferred blood donors, urging them to attempt donation again soon.

The success of the blood donation campaign was made possible through the support of various entities. Kuching Love Book Association extends its sincere thanks to the Blood Bank Sarawak General Hospital, Malaysian Red Crescent, Kuching Branch, and Emart Batu Kawa for their invaluable contributions.

The association also acknowledges the kind sponsorship received from 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta, Supreme Consolidated Resources Sdn Bhd, Everrise Departmental Store Sdn Bhd, and Wecare Bakery, whose support played a vital role in the campaign’s success.

World Blood Donor Day: A Celebration of Generosity

Blood Donation 12.0 by Love Books Association coincided with the global celebration of World Blood Donor Day, as designated by the World Health Organization. This year’s theme, “20 years of celebrating giving: thank you blood donors,” resonates deeply with the spirit of gratitude and solidarity observed in Sarawak.

A Remarkable Legacy

Sarawak stands out for its remarkable dedication to blood donation, with organizations like Love Books Association, Malaysian Red Crescent, and supportive sponsors consistently leading the nation in blood donations. Even during challenging times like the Movement Control Order (MCO) amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Sarawakians have demonstrated unwavering commitment to saving lives through blood donation.

Ensuring Adequate Supply

The abundance of volunteer blood donors in Sarawak ensures a steady supply of blood for those in need, reflecting the region’s spirit of unity and generosity. Efforts are made to maintain optimal levels of blood reserves, with regular campaigns held across various public venues, including shopping centers and places of worship.

Continuing the Lifesaving Tradition

As the world celebrates World Blood Donor Day, the message remains clear: “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often.” The act of blood donation continues to be one of the most impactful ways individuals can contribute to saving lives, emphasizing the importance of ongoing support for blood donation initiatives.
