Streets Near Kuching Waterfront to Close This Weekend for 39th National Chinese Cultural Festival
Kuching Prepares for Cultural Extravaganza as Streets Near Waterfront Close
KUCHING (Sept 11): The bustling streets surrounding Kuching Waterfront will experience temporary closures this weekend in celebration of the highly anticipated 39th National Chinese Cultural Festival. From September 14 to 15, several key roads will be blocked off to accommodate the various festivities scheduled throughout the weekend.
Affected Areas and Traffic Adjustments
According to the latest press release from the festival organizers, the road closures will affect several major streets in the area. Specifically, Gambier Street, Court House Street, the section in front of the Old Court House, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Main Bazaar, and the Merdeka Plaza exit at the Waterfront will be closed from 4pm to 10pm on both days.
During the daytime hours, only one lane of the road in front of the Old Court House will remain open to traffic. This temporary measure is intended to help manage the expected influx of visitors while minimizing disruption to local businesses and residents.
“We urge all road users to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid the affected areas during the festival times. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation,” said the press release.
