SIBU: A tragic accident took place at Jalan Tun Zaidi Adruce, Sibu, yesterday morning, claiming the life of a 38-year-old local lorry driver. Authorities believe the driver suffered a heart attack moments before the collision.
According to Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, the incident occurred around 11.36 am. The lorry driver was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The accident happened when a pickup truck, driven by a 49-year-old local man, had stopped at the red light at the Jalan Tun Zaidi Adruce traffic light intersection. The lorry driven by the victim crashed into the back of the pickup truck,” he explained.

Initial investigations suggest that the victim may have suffered a heart attack while driving, leading to the crash. The victim was found lying unconscious in the lorry and was declared dead at the scene by medical responders.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the accident.
Police have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving causing death. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
