KUCHING, August 18, 2024 — The air was thick with incense and reverence as the annual Hungry Ghost Yu Lan Festival was celebrated at Fook Zai Food Court today. The event, held on the 15th day of the 7th Lunar Month, began at 5:30 PM and was marked by the traditional lighting of the Dragon Josssticks. This year, the event attracted hundreds of attendees, who gathered to witness the cultural and spiritual significance of this age-old festival.

The festival was graced by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Deputy Premier Dato Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, who served as the Guest of Honour. He was accompanied by the owner of Fook Zai Food Court, Boss Lim Hong Giap. Also in attendance were special guests Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, MPP Chairman Cr Tan Kai, Dato Richard Wee, and Kapitan Tan Kun Gee. Their presence underscored the importance of the Yu Lan Festival in preserving local culture and traditions.
