“Although the shotgun is legally registered, its use in a public space can lead to legal consequences,” Mohd Irwan stated.

Residents Alerted Police After Second Theft Attempt

According to reports, the two alleged cable thieves initially ran away after hearing the gunshot. However, shockingly, they returned later to continue their criminal activity. Concerned residents then called the police, leading to their arrest.

Mohd Irwan urged the public not to take matters into their own hands and to immediately report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

“Taking actions that could endanger yourself or others is not advisable. Instead, let the police handle the situation,” he added.

The case is currently under further investigation, and authorities remind the public to follow proper legal channels in dealing with crime. — The Borneo Post
