KOTA KINABALU (Feb 10): Authorities have been closely monitoring Kota Marudu after a minor earthquake hit the district earlier today. The quake, recorded at a magnitude of 3.8, struck approximately 27 kilometres south of Kota Marudu at 10.39am, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
The Fire and Rescue Department immediately dispatched a five-man team to assess the situation and ensure public safety. The team conducted thorough inspections at key locations, including hospitals, hotels, financial institutions, and gas stations across the district.
A department spokesperson confirmed that there were no visible damages to any structures. “Our monitoring found that no residents felt any tremors, and there were no injuries or casualties reported,” he said. The team completed their operation at 11.41am.
