KUCHING, Feb 12: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women’s wing has demonstrated a strong sense of mutual understanding and inclusivity, resulting in uncontested leadership positions, according to its chief, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah.
Fatimah highlighted that the no-contest outcome was achieved through thorough discussions and negotiations before nomination day, ensuring all leadership positions were smoothly filled. This includes posts from the Women’s chief to committee members (AJK).
“For me, this is an achievement that promises a positive future for the PBB Women’s wing. We built a strong foundation through mutual understanding, discussions, and negotiations. Alhamdulillah, we reached a consensus that enables us to carry out our responsibilities effectively,” she said during an interview at Baitul Makmur II ahead of the 16th PBB Convention.

Fatimah also shared her excitement about the presence of new faces within the movement, describing it as a sign of growth and development. She explained that in her own Dalat constituency, the deputy Women chief is a young leader who previously led the Youth wing before advancing to her current role.
In other branches, some long-serving Women chiefs have gracefully stepped aside due to age or health reasons, making way for younger leaders. This transition has created a healthy blend of experience and fresh perspectives at all leadership levels—from grassroots branches to the State level.
“We want to nurture quality leaders through mentorship, which is vital for the Women’s wing. Experienced leaders still play an important role in guiding the younger generation,” Fatimah added.
She revealed that despite the no-contest scenario, the Women’s wing will propose six additional names from the Women’s Supreme Council for appointment to the PBB Supreme Council. This is in line with the recent amendment to Article 14 of PBB’s constitution, allowing up to 32 appointed members, including representatives from the Youth, Women’s, and Belia 1828 wings. — DayakDaily
