KUCHING: A significant milestone in infrastructure development is underway with the new access road project linking the Stapok Utama traffic lights near SJK(C) Chung Hua Primary School No. 6 to the Ensing Timur area. Scheduled for completion by September 15, this project promises to alleviate traffic congestion and improve connectivity for the residents of Kuching.

Project Overview

A Detailed Look at the Project

The RM2.033 million project spans approximately 285 meters in length and has already reached 65.74% completion. This development marks a significant step in enhancing the local infrastructure and easing the flow of traffic in a bustling part of the city.

Deputy Premier’s Involvement

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian has been instrumental in the planning and funding of this project. In a recent statement, Dr Sim highlighted the critical nature of this project for the main roads and the surrounding residential areas.

“This project is critical for both main roads and the dispersed routes around residential areas. It aims to ensure smooth transitions from residential areas to the main roads,” Dr Sim stated.

Importance of Timely Completion

Commitment to Schedule

Dr Sim emphasized the importance of adhering to the construction schedule to deliver benefits to the public as soon as possible. The timely completion of this road is expected to significantly ease the growing traffic flow, providing much-needed relief to daily commuters.

Federal Government’s Responsibility

In his remarks, Dr Sim also called on the federal government to uphold its responsibility and obligation to provide a better and more comprehensive transportation system for Sarawak, given the substantial road tax contributions from Sarawakians.

“The Sarawak government has fulfilled its responsibility by implementing numerous development projects,” Dr Sim reminded.

Future Developments

Second Batu Kawa Bridge

In addition to the new access road, the Sarawak Government has outlined plans for the Second Batu Kawa Bridge and a new dual carriageway road. These projects are part of a broader initiative to enhance the infrastructure in Sarawak, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its citizens.

“Besides the new access road mentioned, the planned Second Batu Kawa Bridge and new dual carriageway road is also part of the Sarawak Government’s efforts to provide better infrastructure for the people of Sarawak,” Dr Sim added.

Conclusion

The new access road project, with its impending completion, represents a significant advancement in Kuching’s infrastructure development. As the project nears its September 15 deadline, the benefits of reduced traffic congestion and improved connectivity will soon be realized by the residents. The Sarawak Government’s continuous efforts in infrastructure development underscore their commitment to enhancing the living standards and ensuring better transportation systems for all.
