KUCHING (Nov 3): Taiwanese rock duo Power Station wowed their fans in Kuching last night with an unforgettable concert at Stadium Perpaduan, Petra Jaya. The 4,500-strong crowd was treated to two hours of high-energy rock music and heartfelt performances as the band kicked off their “Because of Love” world tour in Malaysia.

This marks Power Station’s first concert in Borneo since their 2017 performance in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Fans eagerly awaited the return of Yu Chiu-hsin and Yen Chih-lin, whose powerful vocals have earned them the nickname “Iron Lung Rock.” From the moment the duo opened with their popular hit, “Rock Zone” (摇滚区), the atmosphere was electric. The song’s high-energy beats set the tone for an evening that fans would not soon forget.

Throughout the night, Power Station performed many of their classics, including “Continue to Rotate” (继续转动), “Heartless Love Letter” (无情的情书), “Endless Tomorrow” (明天的明天的明天), and “Cherish” (珍惜). Each song took the audience on a nostalgic journey, and every performance was met with roaring applause. The concert’s emotional moments were interspersed with light-hearted banter as Yu and Yen shared personal stories, expressing their gratitude and love for their Kuching fans.

A memorable moment unfolded when Yu donned a traditional Iban vest gifted by Kuching South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, who was in attendance to support the concert. This heartfelt gesture was met with cheers from the crowd, solidifying the connection Power Station shares with their Sarawakian audience.

The night ended on a high note with two fan-favorites, “Dan” (当) and “Walking Along Zhongxiao East Road Nine Times” (忠孝东路走九遍), the latter being a silver award winner for Best Mandarin Song at the 24th Radio Television Hong Kong Top Ten Golden Song Awards. With a total of 19 songs performed, Power Station’s concert was a night of celebration, nostalgia, and unforgettable memories for fans who were reluctant to see it end.
