BINTANGOR, 5 April 2025 – A bush fire that broke out near a residential area in Kampung Bintangor yesterday afternoon caused a moment of panic among residents before it was quickly brought under control by the Bintangor Fire and Rescue Department.

According to Bintangor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Mahmudin Narudin, they received an emergency call at exactly 12.44pm. A team of five firefighters, led by operations chief Bahani Bajuri, was immediately dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters used a single hose reel connected to the tank water supply on the fire engine to douse the flames. The swift and coordinated effort ensured that the fire was completely under control by 1.10pm.

The incident, although brief, raised concerns about the risk of air pollution due to the thick smoke emitted from the burning vegetation. Experts warn that bushfires, even on a small scale, can negatively impact residents’ health, especially those suffering from asthma and other respiratory conditions.

No injuries or property damage were reported, and authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire. Residents are reminded to stay vigilant and report any signs of smoke or fire immediately, especially during the current dry season.

The Bintangor Fire and Rescue Department also advised locals to avoid open burning, as such acts could easily trigger similar incidents, endangering both lives and property.
