A Remarkable Achievement in Sales
KUCHING: This year’s Sarawak Dayak Gawai Bazaar has surpassed expectations, recording a cumulative sales revenue of RM2,030,454.85 from May 16 to 26. The Deputy Minister of Transport (Air and Road), Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, proudly announced that this figure exceeded last year’s sales record, marking the highest sales ever recorded for the event.
Celebrating Entrepreneurial Success
Dr Jerip commended the efforts of local entrepreneurs and the Sarawak Department of Agriculture, which managed the sales stalls. “Well done to our entrepreneurs and the Sarawak Department of Agriculture as the committee that manages the sales stalls at this year’s Sarawak Gawai Dayak Bazaar event,” he said during his speech at the event’s conclusion on Sunday night at MJC Batu Kawa.
Distinguished Guests and Event Highlights
The event also saw the presence of other notable figures, including Deputy Minister of Transport (Rivers and Seas) Dato Henry Harry Jinep, Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications (Telecommunications) Datuk Liwan Lagang, and other honored guests.
Dr Jerip highlighted the diverse offerings at the bazaar, which featured 180 stalls selling an array of products such as food and drinks, handicrafts, sewing services, and jewelry, particularly beads. These stalls fell under the entrepreneurship and local products promotion cluster, one of the three main clusters of this year’s bazaar. The other two clusters included the culture, entertainment, and local talent cluster, and the local community gastronomy and leisure activities cluster.
Looking Ahead to Gawai Dayak Bazaar 2025
In his remarks, Dr Jerip expressed his hopes for an even bigger and more vibrant Gawai Dayak Bazaar in 2025. He emphasized the goal of surpassing this year’s visitor record at MJC. Addressing the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala, and the Orang Ulu community, Dr Jerip entrusted them with the responsibility of organizing the next event.
“It is understood that the Gawai Dayak Sarawak Bazaar 2025 will be hosted by the Orang Ulu community,” he added, setting the stage for another exciting celebration.
