A retired teacher encountered a horrifying experience when an unknown man hijacked her daughter’s car at a petrol station in Semambu.
In a shocking turn of events, a retired teacher faced a terrifying ordeal as her daughter’s car was hijacked by an unknown assailant at a petrol station in Semambu. The incident, captured on CCTV, has sent shockwaves across the community, raising concerns about safety and security at public places.
According to ACP Muhammad Zahari Wan Busu, the police chief of Kuantan, the distressing event took place around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, leaving the victim and her family in a state of shock and disbelief. The 68-year-old victim was seated inside the vehicle while her husband and daughter were attending to personal matters in the washroom.
Swift Escape and Losses Incurred
With swift and calculated precision, the suspect stealthily infiltrated the car and swiftly drove away, leaving the victim stranded and bewildered. Fortunately, the victim was offloaded safely approximately 400 meters away from the petrol station, averting potential harm or injury.
However, the ordeal didn’t end there. Along with the car, the hijacker also seized valuable possessions including an iPhone 14 belonging to the victim’s daughter, a Touch ‘n Go card, and a Smart Tag. The collective value of the stolen items is estimated to be around 94,000 ringgit, compounding the trauma for the victim and her family.
Investigative Lead: Stolen Motorcycle and Fake Registration
Preliminary investigations have unearthed crucial leads in the case. It was revealed that the suspect arrived at the petrol station on a stolen motorcycle, which bore fake registration numbers, indicating premeditated intent and a calculated plan of action.
The case has been swiftly taken up by law enforcement under Section 379A of the Penal Code, as efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrator intensify. Community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
