KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 — Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has been discharged and acquitted by the High Court today of all 17 charges involving money laundering and tax evasion totaling RM7 million.

The 73-year-old wife of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak faced 12 charges of money laundering and five charges of failing to declare her income to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB). However, Judge K Muniandy granted her an order of acquittal after allowing her application to strike out the charges.

In the proceedings, the defense argued that the charges were defective and failed to disclose the essential elements of the alleged offences. Following this argument, the court ruled in favor of Rosmah’s application, effectively quashing all charges against her.

Rosmah’s legal team filed the application to strike out the charges in September 2023. The hearing began on December 12, 2024, after partial proceedings where two witnesses testified.

This decision marks a significant legal victory for Rosmah, who has been entangled in various high-profile court cases over the years.

While this case has concluded, it has sparked public interest and debates over the legal and political implications surrounding high-profile figures in Malaysia.
