KUCHING — In a bold move to accelerate digital transformation, heads of department within the Sarawak Civil Service have been strongly encouraged to fully embrace the objectives outlined in the Sarawak Digital Economy Action Plan (SDE) 2030. This initiative is central to the state’s push towards a more efficient and digitally integrated government.

Streamlining Online Accessibility for State Government Services

State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki emphasized that the primary goal is to ensure all state government services are easily and securely accessible online. This initiative is aimed at enhancing public convenience and ensuring that services are available at the fingertips of Sarawak’s residents.

“The first priority is to make sure that every citizen can access state government services online with ease and security. This is crucial for improving service delivery and meeting the growing expectations of the public,” Datuk Amar Mohamad stated during his speech at the launch of Sarawak Government Digital Week 2024.

Enhancing Data Availability and Sharing

The second key goal involves improving the availability and sharing of public data. By prioritizing better data management, government agencies will be able to develop more targeted policies, services, and programs that address specific business and community needs.

“Better data sharing will enable our agencies to craft more effective policies and programs, thereby making our services more responsive to the needs of the community,” Datuk Amar Mohamad added.

Promoting Electronic Transactions and Digital Literacy

The final goal focuses on ensuring all government transactions are conducted electronically and integrated. Additionally, it is imperative that employees are proficient in digital tools and technology to achieve a fully digitally literate workforce.

“Electronic transactions and integrated systems are essential for streamlining government operations. Equally important is the need for all public servants to be skilled in digital tools to meet the demands of a modernized government,” he said.

Launch of Sarawak Government Digital Week 2024

Theme: ‘Towards 100% Online Government Services: Vision 2030’

The launch of Sarawak Government Digital Week 2024, held with the theme ‘Towards 100% Online Government Services: Vision 2030,’ marks a significant milestone in the state’s digital transformation journey. The event was organized by the Public Service Digitalisation Unit (SCSDU) and underscored the government’s commitment to embracing digital innovation.

Introduction of ‘SCSMobile+’ and the SCSDU 2024 Awards

During the event, Datuk Amar Mohamad officially introduced ‘SCSMobile+’, a cutting-edge application also known as the ‘SCS Super App’. This new tool is designed to empower public servants by facilitating their digital work processes and enhancing their efficiency.

The event also featured the presentation of the SCSDU 2024 Awards, which recognized outstanding achievements in digital innovation. Awards were given in several categories, including Best Data Cataloguing Agency, Best Chief Information Officer, Best Assistant Chief Information Officer, and Best Webmaster.

Commitment to Digital Transformation and SCS Values

Premier’s Mandate and Expectations

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has underscored that digitalization is a necessity, not an option. His mandate to the civil service earlier this year highlighted the importance of adopting digital practices to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of government operations.

“All parties are reminded to adhere to the SCS values of ‘Sense of Urgency and Ownership,’ ‘Result Oriented,’ and ‘Team Spirit’. The success of this digital transformation effort lies in the positive impact we can make for the people of Sarawak,” Datuk Amar Mohamad emphasized.

The launch event was attended by several key figures, including Sarawak State Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, Sarawak Attorney General Datuk Saferi Ali, Deputy State Secretary of Sarawak (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Deputy State Secretary of Sarawak (Administration) Datuk Buckland Bangik, and Deputy State Secretary of Sarawak (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee.
