KUCHING, 17 February 2025 – Five young dancers from Sarawak made a stunning debut on the European stage, delivering commendable performances at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) French Open held in Lyon, France, from 15th to 16th February.

The Sarawak DanceSport Association (SDA) proudly announced that Cordelia Wee Li Xin, Amy Kho Yien Xing, Eunice Ling Chen Xin, Erin Ung Ting Yee, and Arabelle Leah Pei Yu Qian showcased their talent against seasoned competitors from across Europe and beyond.
Strong Performances Against Global Competitors
In the Adult Female Solo Latin event, Cordelia and Amy displayed exceptional skill and determination, securing 4th and 6th place respectively out of 28 participants. The competition featured dancers from countries such as France, Germany, Turkey, Lebanon, Romania, Slovakia, Moldova, and Spain.

Meanwhile, in the Youth Female Solo Latin category, Eunice put up an impressive fight, finishing 4th in a challenging field of 32 dancers.
The Junior Solo Latin event saw Erin and Arabelle deliver promising performances, finishing 7th and 10th place respectively. Erin narrowly missed the finals by just a single mark, proving her strong potential for future competitions.
A Proud Moment for Sarawak DanceSport
Team manager and coach Cindy Chung of Russell, Randell & Cindy Dance Company, Kuching, expressed her pride in the dancers’ performance. She emphasized that this experience in Europe has been a valuable learning opportunity for the team and believes that it will motivate them to train harder to refine their techniques and skills.

SDA President Chester Lim hailed the results as a remarkable achievement and credited the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Entrepreneur Development for its continued support. He revealed that Sarawak’s next major competition will be the Bailando Open Championships 2025, scheduled for 4th to 6th April in Johor Bahru.
Additionally, SDA is planning to host the Sarawak Open International DanceSport Championship later this year, further solidifying the state’s presence in the global DanceSport arena.
