Introduction

KUCHING (July 12) – The Sarawak police contingent has received a significant upgrade to its fleet with the addition of 71 new Honda City cars. These new vehicles come as a replacement for the previously leased Proton Preve cars, which had been in service since 2018/2019.

Enhanced Efficiency and Image

A Boost to Police Departments and Patrols

Sarawak police commissioner Dato Mancha Ata announced that out of the 71 new cars, 43 will be distributed across various police departments. The remaining 28 will be equipped as Mobile Police Vehicles (MPVs) dedicated to patrol duties. This strategic allocation aims to enhance both operational efficiency and public visibility.

Improving Public Safety

“I hope with these new fleet of cars, it would improve our image as well as our overall efficiency in maintaining public safety,” said Mancha Ata during the official handing over ceremony. The event, held at the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters, saw the new vehicles being distributed to heads of departments and district police chiefs.

Government’s Commitment to Law Enforcement

Maximizing Vehicle Utilization

Commissioner Mancha emphasized the importance of maximizing the use of these new vehicles for police operations. The initiative aligns with the government’s objective to boost the morale of the police force, thereby enhancing their productivity and effectiveness.

Leased by Spanco

The new fleet has been leased out by Spanco, a renowned fleet management service provider in Malaysia. This partnership underscores the government’s commitment to equipping the police force with the best resources to ensure public safety.

Monthly Assembly and Recognition

Acknowledging Excellence

Earlier in the day, Mancha Ata presided over the Sarawak police’s monthly assembly. During the assembly, certificates of appreciation were awarded to 56 police officers in recognition of their exemplary service during various police operations. This gesture highlights the importance of acknowledging and motivating the police personnel for their dedication and hard work.

Upholding Integrity

At the assembly, Mancha Ata reiterated the importance of integrity among police personnel. He reminded everyone to steer clear of corruption and abuse of power, stressing that these values are paramount in maintaining public trust.

Caution Against Social Media Misuse

Mancha Ata also cautioned police personnel against making sensitive comments on social media, particularly those related to race, religion, and the royal institution (3R). This reminder is crucial in ensuring that the police maintain a professional and respectful presence both offline and online.

Conclusion

The addition of 71 new Honda City cars to the Sarawak police fleet marks a significant step towards enhancing the operational capabilities and public image of the force. With the government’s support and a strong emphasis on integrity and professionalism, the Sarawak police are well-positioned to continue their vital role in maintaining public safety and order.
