KUCHING: In a moment of immense pride for Malaysia, 10-year-old Sarawakian singer Taylor Louise has secured a gold medal in the open category for ages eight to ten at the 27th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in California, USA. Representing Malaysia, Taylor’s exceptional performance also earned her the prestigious title of WCOPA Junior Division Champion in the open category. Her rendition of “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish captivated the judges and audience alike, showcasing her remarkable talent and stage presence.

A Journey of Passion and Dedication

In an emotional appreciation post on social media, Taylor expressed her gratitude and astonishment at her achievement. “Guys, I really won a Gold medal for Sarawak and Malaysia. This is amazing news for me and it will motivate me to do better next time. I have learnt so much and I know I have so much room to improve in terms of my vocal and performance on stage,” she shared.

Taylor, who hails from Kuching, also reflected on her journey and the support system that has been instrumental in her success. “What a wonderful day of my life as the youngest Malaysia team’s vocal contestant aged 10 years old Kuching girl who loves singing and eating wanton,” she added, showcasing her charming humility and youthful exuberance.

Taylor did not forget to acknowledge the significant role played by her family, coach, and best friend in her preparation for the competition. “I would like to also thank you all too for being here with me and reminding me to keep going and not giving up. I love you all and thank you for your prayer,” she expressed, highlighting the collective effort behind her individual success.

During the competition, Taylor showcased her versatility by performing five songs across different genres: Pop, World, Broadway, R&B, and Soul. This diverse repertoire not only demonstrated her wide-ranging vocal abilities but also her adaptability and passion for various musical styles.
