LUNDU, August 21: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for three missing students continues in full force today, following the tragic capsizing of a boat in Sungai Kayan, Kampung Selampit, Lundu. Approximately 80 local villagers, supported by multiple enforcement agencies, are tirelessly working to locate the missing youths.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak reported that the initial search efforts on August 20 involved around eight boats mobilized by local villagers. These boats were joined by Bomba personnel, the police, marine police, and the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB).
The search commenced with a focus on a 2km radius of the water surface but was swiftly expanded to a 5km stretch, encompassing both the upper and lower reaches of the river near the capsizing site. Despite the comprehensive efforts, no trace of the missing students was found.

The missing students have been identified as Alsma Jithil, 14, Vikie Wilson, 15, and Helena Fasha Petrus, 16. All three are students of SMK Senibong, and their families are anxiously awaiting news.
