BINTULU, 2 March 2025 – Big news for Sebauh! A brand new Sebauh Sports Complex worth RM8.4 million is set to be ready by July 2026, giving rural communities a modern space to enjoy and develop their sports talents.
The project is being handled by JKR Sarawak with support from the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Development. The complex will be built on a 12,795-acre site, offering a wide range of sports facilities that meet international standards.

According to Sarawak Minister of Consumer Industry, Commodities and Rural Development, Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom, this project is not just about building a sports venue — it’s about giving rural youths a fair chance to shine in professional sports.

“This is a very important facility, especially for the rural community. With this sports complex, they can train, compete, and even aim for professional sports careers,” he said during the groundbreaking ceremony held on Sunday.
What’s Inside the Complex?
The Sebauh Sports Complex will include:
✅ 8-lane synthetic running track
✅ FIFA standard football field
✅ Large stage for events
✅ Facilities for long jump, high jump, javelin throw, discus throw, shot put, and hammer throw
Dr. Stephen also expressed gratitude to the Sarawak Government for fully funding this project. He thanked JKR Sarawak for their efforts in ensuring smooth implementation.
Part of Sarawak’s Bigger Plan
This project is part of the Sarawak Premier’s commitment to bring balanced development across both rural and urban areas like Sebauh, Jepak, and Bintulu.
“We want to change the development landscape in Sebauh. This sports complex is just the start. More projects will come, including new bridges, a Sebauh New Township, mosques, and churches,” he added.
