Selangau, March 21 – A 12-year-old boy who went missing for two days in Selangau has been found safe, bringing relief to his family and the local community.
According to the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Selangau district operation control centre (PKOD), the boy, Desmond Irang Julia, was discovered within a 50-metre radius behind his longhouse at Rumah Lang Nanga Meruan Dijih at around 10.55am today. The search and rescue (SAR) operation, which had been launched earlier in the day, was successfully concluded at 11.10am.
Two Days of Worry and Search Efforts
Desmond was reported missing after he failed to return home when he went out to play outside his longhouse on the evening of March 18 at 5pm. His family grew concerned when he did not come back, and a police report was lodged at 8am this morning, triggering an immediate SAR operation.

Search teams consisting of APM personnel, local villagers, and other rescue units combed the area thoroughly before locating the boy. Fortunately, he was found in good health and was quickly reunited with his relieved family.
