SERIAN, SARAWAK: The upgraded Serian Division Mosque is set to become an iconic landmark in the constituency, with its official handover planned for mid-January 2025. This milestone awaits final approvals from the Fire and Rescue Department and other relevant authorities.
Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC) president, Datuk Misnu Taha, expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project, highlighting its significance for the community. During a site visit on Friday, he proposed the mosque as the ideal venue for next year’s state-level Nuzul Al-Quran celebration.
“This mosque has the potential to become a central hub for religious and community activities,” said Datuk Misnu. He urged the Management Committee to plan engaging activities to fully utilise the mosque’s upgraded facilities and foster a vibrant environment for worshippers and the local community.
The project, with an allocation of RM7.9 million, faced delays under the previous contractor due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these setbacks, the completion marks a significant achievement for the Serian Division.
Chairman of the Serian Islamic Welfare Trust Board, Ustaz Mohammad Amin Dan, and project consultant, Noraini Naroden, also attended the visit, underscoring the collaborative efforts in bringing this project to fruition.
The enhanced facilities are expected to meet the growing needs of the Serian community, making the mosque a beacon for both spiritual and social gatherings.
As Serian looks forward to the grand unveiling, residents are encouraged to take pride in this transformative project that symbolizes resilience and progress for the region.
