KUCHING (Dec 27) – The last three suspects involved in the tragic murder of a 22-year-old man at a gated apartment complex along Jalan Sungai Tapang were released today after agreeing to become prosecution witnesses. Magistrate Ling Hui Chian granted their release on a RM15,000 bail with one surety each.
These three suspects, aged between 32 and 48, are now required to be present in court when summoned. They were previously connected to the incident where a young man was fatally attacked and slashed. This release follows the earlier release of the first three suspects involved in the case on December 10, 2024.
Inspector Mohd Safuan Mohd Nasir applied for the bond under Section 118 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Magistrate Ling approved the request, stating that the bond would ensure that all suspects, who had now turned into witnesses, would cooperate in the ongoing legal proceedings.
The tragic incident occurred on December 1, when the police received a distress call at 4.40 am about an altercation at the apartment complex. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found the victim, who had been severely slashed, in one of the rooms of his apartment.
This case has been the subject of much attention in Kuching, with many residents still shocked by the senseless violence. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crime as they move forward with legal proceedings.
As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen how these suspects, now witnesses, will testify in court. The release of the suspects on bond serves as an important development in this ongoing investigation, ensuring that justice may eventually prevail.
